WE 3RD ANNUAL GLOBAL BELL RINGINGS
WE EMEA | DUBLIN | IRISH STOCK EXCHANGE

2017 INTERNATIONAL WOMEN'S DAY THEME

WE AND PARTNER THEME: WOMEN AT WORK

We were honored to celebrate International Women’s Day at the Irish Stock Exchange  for the first time with an Opening market bell for Gender Equality  with a representation of women and men in the local industry,

  • At 9am the opening bell was rung by Marie Coady, PwC EMEA ETF Leader, who heads up WE Dublin, Deirdre Somers, Chief Executive of the Irish Stock Exchange and Tara O'Reilly, Partner, William Fry and WE Dublin Leadership.

  •  Deirdre spoke about the ISE's delight to host the event given Ireland's central role in the European ETF ecosystem.  She shared a story about Oonagh Keogh, the first female to be admitted to any stock exchange in the world, who was admitted to the Irish Stock Exchange in 1925, some 45 years before a woman was admitted to the NYSE and 48 years prior to the first female admission to the LSE.  It seemed entirely appropriate that we should be celebrating International Women's Day in the ISE's beautiful board room.

  •  Marie spoke about the growth and development of WE globally and locally and encouraged attendees to sign up for membership and spread the word, as well as sharing some of her own experiences of female mentors who have helped in her own career.
