2017 INTERNATIONAL WOMEN'S DAY THEME
WE AND PARTNER THEME: WOMEN AT WORK
On March 7th, the Chicago chapter of Women in ETFs celebrated International Women’s Day by ringing the closing bell at the Chicago Board Options Exchange (CBOE). The WE Chicago leadership team and committee members gathered on the trading floor and were joined by CBOE representatives, as WE Chicago co-chairs Jillian DelSignore and Lisa Terwilliger rang the bell for gender equality.
To kick off the speaker portion of the event, Lisa Terwilliger, Executive Director at MSCI, gave introductory remarks. Jillian DelSignore, Head of ETF Distribution at J.P. Morgan Asset Management, moderated a panel focused on building a personal brand with two distinguished speakers: Joanne Hill, Investment Strategy Advisor at CBOE Vest and ProShares, and Cheryl Francis, Co-founder and Co-Chairman of Corporate Leadership Center.
Cheryl and Joanne gave rich insights from their personal experiences. Cheryl emphasized the importance of reconciling others’ perception of your brand with your own interpretation through periodic introspection and proactive feedback. Joanne highlighted five key steps for building a personal brand: identify role models to observe and emulate, learn by volunteering in areas outside comfort zones, build career relationships, connect by helping others succeed, and seek opportunities to collaborate. Following the panel discussion, participants networked at a cocktail reception where representatives from Trunk Club offered personal style consultations.
