WE CANADA | TORONTO | Bell Ringing Ceremony at NEO 

Over 100 attended the closing bell at the NEO on March 8th to raise awareness of the importance of private sector action to advance gender equality and showcase how the private sector is already taking concrete steps to empower women in the workplace, marketplace and community.

The event featured a keynote address from Leslie Byberg, Executive Director, Ontario Securities Commission and a panel moderated by Jos Schmitt, President and CEO, NEO Exchange.

The panel included Vandana Juneja, Senior Director, Corporate Engagement- Canada and Asia Pacific, Catalyst, Florence Narine, Senior Vice-President, Product, AGF Investments Inc., John Valley, Partner Osler and Deborah Frame, Co-Head of the Canadian Chapter of Women in ETFs and President of Frame Global Asset Management.

The bell ringing is part of a global collaboration of 65 stock exchanges around the world to “Ring the Bell for Gender Equality”. The events are a partnership between Women in ETFsUN Global CompactUN Women, the Sustainable Stock Exchanges (SSE) Initiative, the IFC, and the World Federation of Stock Exchanges, to raise awareness about the business case for women’s economic empowerment and the opportunities for the private sector to advance gender equality and sustainable development.
