For the fourth year, WE Canada rings the bell for gender equality in celebration of International Women's Day...

On March 8th, over 100 ETF industry professionals and executives gathered at the Toronto Stock Exchange to open the stock market in support of International Women's Day 2018. In its fourth year, the market opens are a part of Ring the Bell for Gender Equality initiative, a global partnership between Women in ETFs and UN Women, together with the Sustainable Stock Exchange Initiative, UN Global Compact, the IFC and the World Federation of Exchanges. The market open ceremonies raise awareness about the opportunities for the private sector to advance gender equality and sustainable development.

At the Toronto Stock Exchange, Tanya Rowntree, co-head of Women in ETFs’ Canada chapter and Global Head of Client Success, TMX Group, introduced a powerful and inspiring panel entitled “The Future of Work.” Moderated by Julie Levesque, Managing Director, CPPIB Enterprises, the panelists included: John Coyne, VP, Legal & External Affairs, Unilever Canda, Toronto City Councillor Michelle Holland, and EU Ambassador Peteris Ustubs.

Attendees included over 100 representatives from all facets of the ETF industry, including leadership teams from Canada’s top ETF issuers, high profile industry influencers, members of the regulatory community and leaders of professional associations. The market open was featured on BNN and CTV. Tanya Rowntree was also interviewed for CTV News.
