DISTINGUISHED SPEAKER PRESENTATIONS: Gender Diversity & Women on Boards

The event was followed by presentations from our impressive speakers: Suni P. Harford, Managing Director, Citi and Linda-Eling Lee, Executive Director, MSCI.  Suni’s story was a case study to some extent: With 30 years in the business she had the opportunity to take a hands-on approach to changing how Citi managed gender diversity. She said that time, money, metrics and management commitment were needed to help drive the advancement of women.

Linda discussed the findings of a paper she co-authored entitled “MSCI’s 2014 Survey of Women on Boards.” The presentations triggered a slew of questions from the audience.

With many thanks to the sponsors and host, Michelle Mikos closed the event with words that warmed all of us: “I am very fortunate,  I have encountered little, if any, gender bias in my 10 years in the industry.  However, this International Women’s Day event – and all of WE’s events – have filled me with a sense of awareness and responsibility.  We must thank those who came before us, paved the way, and enabled the more gender diverse environment we have today.  We can’t be complacent, we can’t take what’s been accomplished for granted, we need to continue having this conversation.  I am so grateful that the Women in ETFs organization connects us, facilitates this conversation and has resulted in many great new friendships even after one year.”
